- My name is Cody Wheeler, I transferred to UF from Florida Atlantic University and I am an Information Systems major and am simultaneously completing my Masters in Information Systems and Operations Management. One of my talents is connecting with people. Because I have always been very personal, forming relationships has always been very easy for me. I consider myself to be very skilled in hunting and fishing. Both have been passions of mine for as long as I can remember. When back home in Tampa, I am out on the water almost every chance that I get. I have found that going fishing is also a great way to connect with people. My aspirations are to graduate from UF with both my masters and undergrad then work for a tech company long enough to learn the business then open up my own consulting company. Possibly, instead of a consulting company, I would work on creating a platform that would allow for cable networks to use cookies so they can show commercials that better target their potential customers.
- My product is designed to enhance the television marketing field. By utilizing cookies from the user’s computer, cable companies will gather the data and show commercials that align with the viewers needs and wants. This will both save money for the companies that are advertising and allow potential customers to learn of discounts that they may need.
- The prime customers for my product are large corporations that advertise through TV commercials. Companies that have enough recourses to gather large amounts of data and decipher who their target customers are then show them commercials based upon their needs or wants.
- Customers will care about my product because it will greatly save them on costs by showing fewer commercials and help them to make more money by showing their commercials to only those who have the potential want or need for their product.
- I believe what sets me apart is the idea itself. To my knowledge, there is nothing like it currently on the market which makes my product very desirable to companies that have uses for it.

I think that everything works together. The most
difficult part will be getting the cable companies and the companies that
advertise to commit to an agreement that would allow cookies to be utilized.
Cody,
ReplyDeleteI have mentioned before how much I love your idea. I still do, however I am starting to see the potential challenges that you will face getting the companies to work with one another. I think you do a good job explaining that in this blog post. I am interested to see this opportunity progress and see what solutions you come up with and ways that may convince the companies it is in everyones best interest to have ads that target consumers more directly. Great job in this post!
I really like your idea of utilizing different cookies to stream commercials that the customer wants. I think this is an amazing idea because some people just skip commercials and do not pay attention to them. I am also a very social person, so I love working with people. Is it really true that the less commercials will save you money?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous comments in the sense that I think this is a great idea. Not only in the sense that it would help out companies selling their product, but it would also make commercials more enjoyable for the viewer if they are interested in what is being advertised. It will be interesting to see if something like this develops in the future!
