growing social capital

1.     The first person that I would choose to interview would be the head of a social media site, such as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. This is the domain expert who would have a similar business of gathering cookies and displaying ads based on said cookies. He has been very successful at selling these ads and has proven how effective it is to target a potential customer based upon the individuals search history.
a.     Assuming that I somehow got in contact with Zuckerberg, the background that would be pertinent to me would be his advertisements on Facebook. His company has done a wonderful job of figuring out what it’s users want and then displaying ad’s that relate to the users wants or needs. I believe that because of his experiences, he would be able to offer great advise to me.
b.     This person is the domain expert in the field.
c.     I could not get in contact with him.
d.     He would offer his advice and guidance and his return favor would simply be knowing that he is helping the next generation to innovate.
e.     Having him in my network could help me by giving my product credibility. Being able to use a name like Zuckerberg when I talk about who has guided my business will be very beneficial. The more credibility my business has, the more businesses are more likely to implement my product in their marketing strategy.
2.     The 2nd person that I would choose would be someone who runs a business that’s core competencies involve using cookies to target customers. This would be someone who is responsible for showing ads on the side of the computer screen when an individual searches something.
a.     This would be a smart person who is a very hard worker. This person would be a computer expert who knows how to gather cookies from someone else’s search history.
b.     This person is the expert in the field.
c.     I could not reach such an individual.
d.     Similar to the above scenario, this person would give me advise, tell me what to look out for, and give me pointers on how to do it right. His payback would potentially be an advisor position for the company.
e.     This person will give me key tips that took him years to learn. utilizing his tips will save my company a lot of time and effort.
3.     For my product, it is hard to specify a supplier. The closest thing to a supplier that I can come to is a programmer. An individual who knows how to code well enough to create the ads for the cable networks.
a.     This person would be very intelligent. They would be fluent in all of the major coding languages and many of the minor ones. This person perhaps had previously worked for a company like Google, Alphabet, or Facebook.
b.     This person is an important supplier to the industry.
c.     I was unable to find such a person.
d.     This person did a favor by offering several workshops in the industry of coding. For repayment, I offered him a job.
e.     Having this person in my network will help because he will be one of the best coders that my company has to offer. Because he is so effective, our ads will be able to target the right customers.

For my product, the people that I was instructed to talk to are the head of multinational corporations, thus, impossible to reach. However, many of them have spoken about this industry and I was able to find several articles about it. After reading the articles, I wrote how I expected the interviews to go. Yes, this experience differed because this time, I was forced to do research on people and act like I was giving them an interview.

  1. Cody,

It sounds like you picked all of the right people for the Job. I think the experience that those people have will be priceless and could really help jumpstart your service. I agree that It would be difficult to find a specific supplier, as your product is not a tangible product. I had the same problem really, because I am not selling an actual item. Overall well done!
