Solving the Problem


·      A major issue for companies that advertise through TV commercials is that they are sending their ads out to people that have neither a need or interest in the company’s product. They are sending their ads out to reach the masses and hoping that their ads reach people who align with their targeted customer. My product would help to eliminate the mass advertising by running targeted ads similar to those found on the internet. It would be a program that takes cookies from a consumer’s laptop and smartphone, then sends them to cable networks to collect data then run ads based on individual consumer preference. This product would allow companies that advertise through TV commercials to cut down on marketing expenses by displaying their commercials only to those who would seem to have an interest in their products or services. Companies like Facebook have proven that this is a very successful way to market one’s products and it is also very cost effective.

  1. I think this idea is one that would certainly be of interest to the tv providers. They would probably be able to charge even more for air space because they could make some sort of guarantee to their customers that the ads they are showing will be targeted at the desired audience. I think businesses would certainly be willing to pay more as well if they knew that everyone seeing the ad had at least some level of interest in what they were seeing. Great idea!

  2. I agree with the above comment that businesses would pay more if they already knew the customer was already interested in their product. The only issue is how would a TV be able to gather your interests if you do not watch much TV. Let's say you only watch netflix, would you have to manually put your data into your tv so it can show commercials geared towards you?

    I really enjoyed your post and feel that your idea has a lot of potential. I very much dislike seeing ads all over my computer, especially when its stuff I absolutely have no interest in. Overall I feel that your idea is very smart and by honing in on advertisements that people are interested in will definitely help those companies see an increase in attention in their products.
